Dutch cuisine
Here I will share my experience and knowledge that I have gained during their stay in the Netherlands , some of which I have learned by reading various books and cookbooks, but basically read and correct me if I am wrong somewhere .
If I start to compare the Croatian and Dutch cuisine , Dutch cuisine is not particularly " rich " which does not challenge the special dishes here are prepared in the traditional way . In the Netherlands, it feels pretty (in the last 20-30 years ) a huge impact the world's great cuisines , which is caused by many immigrants from nearly all parts of the world who have immigrated to the Netherlands and brought with them their customs , culture and their own meals. Here are feeling the greatest impact of Italian , Chinese, Thai and Indonesian cuisine , especially in the younger population. Older Dutch are the most loyal fans of their traditional Dutch cuisine.
Comparing Croatian and Dutch way of eating can be seen a big difference . In the Netherlands there is only one meal during the day , and it's dinner , which is usually served cut in 18 hours although lately because prenapornog work and late hours this time shifted to 19 or 19.30. It is important to note that the evening meal did not served bread .
Bread is usually served for breakfast in the morning or during the day with a variety of spreads .
When a Dutch family sitting at a table that does not mean just eat because we are hungry , but it's also the social event when the table spends a few hours and recount the past day at work, in school, and when planning the next day , the same way about food .
People who are retired or do not work and still serve dinner in exactly 18 hours. Younger people were a little more flexible. In addition to dinner in the morning before work served a hearty breakfast with several types of cheese , ham , cheese, peanut which is a very popular dish ( especially in children ), various jams, cream , butter , etc. , and continue throughout the day there is no lunch in Croatian sense but it comes down to lunch sandwich, salad in a restaurant or fast-food .
Potential Netherlands are fairly large kitchen .
As a major producer of meat, cheese , milk , and especially vegetables , enormously wide selection of own -produced food in supermarkets and specialized stores of meat, cheese , vegetables and fruit . It should be noted that the Netherlands is one of the largest exporters of vegetables and flowers , and one of Europe's largest producers of mussels are one of the specialties here . In addition, almost every town and village , and it is possible to buy groceries with virtually all continents and all existing cultures. All in all , the government is one big multicultural mesh , not only as a food but also for all segments of social life that this country gives great specificity compared to other countries in Europe.
The most common foods that are used daily in the diet are meat / fish, potatoes and vegetables .
Cheese
is one of the most popular foods that are produced in this country in all shapes and flavors. Here are just some of the species : Gouda, Edammer , Milner , Maasdammer , Maaslander , Leerdammer , Kernhem , Old Amsterdam, Gatenkaas (cheese with holes ) , farmers cheese and many other species. Depending on the length of each odležanosti cheese , cheeses are divided into: young , young cured , cured , cured extra , old and brokkel kaas (very old cheese that almost can not be cut with a knife , but it breaks into pieces , excellent taste ! )For cheese lovers Netherlands is a country where everyone will come on their own, in spite of my good knowledge of Croatian cheeses and so production must point out that in the Netherlands there are numerous variations of cheese that we tasted some still neazmislivi but very tasty, after trying several types of cheese it is difficult to decide which is best .
